Create a new family tradition at the tree, Nov. 22–Dec. 31, 2024.  Count down the new year with a digital ball drop at 9 p.m. and midnight on New Year’s Eve!

The aptly named Mile High Tree Presented by Xcel Energy & Xfinity is a 110-foot-tall, 39-foot diameter conical structure. It’s 10 feet higher than the tallest Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in history and contains 60,000 LED lights to create its signature programming. The tree features nightly free public light shows choreographed to multicultural holiday music and accommodating up to 140 guests at a time for an immersive viewing experience within the tree. The Mile High Tree was created by ILMEX Illumination, a globally renowned decorative lighting production company in Spain. Madrid-based Brut Deluxe handled the lighting design using pixel-mapping technology.

Also Shop at the Denver Christkindlmarket. The tree will, once again, be located near the Denver Christkindlmarket, Nov. 22–Dec. 23, 2024. Stroll through a European village decorated for the holiday season as you shop for finely crafted artisan gifts and treats at charming wooden huts. Fuel your shopping with authentic Glühwein (mulled spiced wine), German Biers and hot chocolate, and nosh on Bavarian-style pretzels, fresh smoked salmon, Knödel, Goulasch, Nürnberger Sausages, pastries, caramels and European chocolates.

2024 Tree Hours and Showtimes: Free Admission

Hours –

  • The tree will operate from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. every day, Nov. 22–Dec. 31, 2024, with the following exceptions:
    • Nov. 27 static blue until after 5:30 p.m. for the Light the Lights Celebration
    • Dec. 7 dark until 7 p.m. for the 9News Parade of Lights
    • Nightly: static blue during the Denver City & County Buiding’s light show at 5:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.

Lights & Music Shows

The tree will be lit throughout the season for the public’s enjoyment and will be open for program viewings. During open times, visitors to the tree will enjoy a selection of festive and diverse songs timed to the tree’s exciting light displays. The programs start every 15 minutes.

Transportation and Parking

Getting There – It’s easy to get to Civic Center Park from Denver Union Station by hopping on the free MallRide. You can also stop along the way to see other sights or take a downtown holiday lights walking tour.

Parking – There are a variety of options from parking meters to garages as well as small surface parking lots. See the map section below for some of the options.
