This year we mark a truly historic milestone—the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, and the 150th anniversary of Colorado statehood. This once-in-a-lifetime moment is an opportunity to reflect on our shared history, celebrate our communities and shape the future together.
As we recognize these historic milestones, the America 250 – Colorado 150 Commission is focused on ensuring every community can participate.
To facilitate this, we created a sharable flyer highlighting national programs, grassroots projects and Commission signature initiatives that individuals and organizations can join immediately, including for the upcoming 4th of July festivities.
Besides Commission signature initiatives, the included PDF features various community-led programs and events, such as:
– A nationwide potluck initiative on July 5th
– Dark sky parties across the state
– The Colorado 150 Film Festival
– A statewide book club
– A three-week bike ride across Colorado for bikepackers
As always, the Commission encourages organizations to submit their events to our statewide calendar via this form and tag us on social media.
If you would like to learn more about how your neighborhood organization can get involved in the many exciting events past July 4th, we invite you to join us for a Virtual Coffee Chat on Friday, July 17 from 10-11am. Please join via the information below. Representatives from your neighborhood organization and community members are welcome to attend.
In addition, you can stay updated on all America 250 – Colorado 150 happenings by signing up for our newsletter and find more engagement resources in our free community toolkit.
