Good Neighbor Committee Works with new Businesses

The Good Neighbor Works With New Businesses

The Good Neighbor Committee works to encourage applicants of liquor and other licenses to operate their establishments in a manner respectful of the needs of a mixed commercial/residential neighborhood.  The committee has worked with four businesses recently.

Tastes of Africa

Two young gentlemen from Cameroon are planning to open a very unique and ambitious operation, the Trybal African Speakeasy, at 1670 Champa Street (the old wine bar location). The Speakeasy will combine elements of African food, art, music, and cocktails while giving a cultural, educational and historical experience. One of the men’s mother is planning to come over from Africa to help plan the menu. Expect something spicey! They have indicated they are interested in a Good Neighbor Agreement (GNA) and business membership. This will truly be an exciting, one-of-a-kind bar in Denver and we look forward to the opening in May.

Bombs Away!

The eagerly awaited Bombshells, located at 1400 Arapahoe in the old Oceanaire space, has finally arrived! The military themed restaurant and bar features 40 televisions, a bevy of “Bombshell Girls” and a full menu. The restaurant is owned and operated by RCI Holdings out of Texas which also owns several “Gentlemen’s” clubs here in Denver, including Ricks (La Boheme) and the Diamond Caberat. They have signed a Good Neighbor Agreement. Stop by, have a burger and beer, and support our patriotic girls.

Sports Viewing

Eric and Darron, both Spire residents, have opened Reflections in the old Shag spot on 15th Street. Several big screen TVs make for excellent sport viewing. They’re currently opened Thursday through Sunday evenings. Discussions are underway as to a GNA and a Business Membership, as well as hosting a future UpDoNa event.  Drop by for a drink!

and even Karaoke…

And finally, Highgate Hotels has applied for a Cabaret License transfer for the bar/restaurant operation at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco (1717 Champa Street) to provide both DJs and live music as well as karaoke.
