Back in early 2022, the Founding Board of UpDoNA understood the importance of a well-informed membership. It immediately formed the Outreach Committee to provide interesting and important information that is critical for a well-informed membership. That outreach has evolved into several mechanisms, including our website, our Facebook page, occasional direct emails, and our Newsletter. Volunteers work behind the scenes to keep you informed about the UpDoNA’s work, important elections, events and issues that we all face as residents and business owners of Upper Downtown.
Website
The first thing that had to be done was to set up our website. Without even hesitating, Andrew Weiner volunteered an immense amount of time to create it, and on January 3, 2022, updona.org went live. Today, he still provides valuable services and advice that is necessary to keep our website healthy and happy.
Several writers provide content which Terri McGinley posts on the Community/UpDoNA News webpage. She also researches events of interest to you, placing that info on the Community/Events webpage. To access the website, go to updona.org.
Newsletter
UpDoNA’s newsletter is the most visible source of information to our members, and we have Carly Ebenstein and Stephanie Springer Coassin to thank for that. They have put together thirty-one professional newsletters, dating back to the first one which was published on March 5, 2022, a mere three months after UpDoNA incorporated. Carly and Stephanie are stepping down for a well-deserved rest, and we all owe them a great deal of thanks for the many hours of dedicated work that they have provided. Without them, there may never have been a newsletter, and without that primary source of information, UpDoNA may never have been able to accomplish all that it has.
When Carly let us know that they were stepping down, they also assured us that they would continue in that capacity until we found replacements. Terri McGinley immediately came forward to take on that role in addition to the work she does posting articles and events on the website. We also all owe her a debt of gratitude for all the work she has done and will continue to do in this new role.
Facebook Page
You may not know it, but UpDoNA has a Facebook page which is used for interesting pieces of information that members may not otherwise know about. As an example, UpDoNA is often informed about meetings, issues and events (some free or discounted to UpDoNA members) that are scheduled to occur prior to the next newsletter publish date. The Facebook page is used to disseminate that information in the feed and in the events section of the page. All you have to do is to go to https://www.facebook.com/updona and “Like” it.
Direct Emails
Finally, UpDoNA uses direct emails to communicate important and/or very near term information that members need to know about.
Thank You
We all owe our volunteers a huge thank you and it is important that we all recognize the work that is done behind the scenes to provide our members with timely information on a variety of subjects that is crucial to residents and business owners of Upper Downtown.
