You may be aware that our current District Attorney (DA) Beth McCann has announced that she is not running for re-election. Three individuals have announced their candidacy for that position. They are in alphabetical order:
- Leora Joseph
- Lisi Owen
- John Walsh
The DA holds a very important role in the criminal justice system, representing the state in criminal cases, and making decisions about which crimes to prosecute and what penalties to request. Those decisions are influenced to some degree by the individual values and opinions of the DA regarding which are the most important to pursue.
UpDoNA is again partnering with the Lower Downtown Neighborhood Association (LoDoNA) and also with the LoDo District to hold a Candidate Forum with the DA candidates. This will be somewhat similar in format to previous Candidate Forums that we have held. We think that it is vitally important for you to be educated about each of the candidates so you can vote from an informed position, and we strongly encourage you to attend.
The Candidate Forum will be held on April 30, 2024 from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM. The venue is TBD. Please save the date. You’ll be asked to RSVP in a future email.
