Jen has proudly called Denver home for the past year, currently living in the Spire Building. While she grew up moving frequently, living in Chicago, Michigan, Massachusetts, Texas and Florida, she found lasting roots in Colorado when she arrived at the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1990. Drawn to education, Jen earned a BA in Anthropology and a Teaching Certificate followed by a Master’s of Education from Regis University and an Education Specialist degree from the University of Colorado, Denver.
For over 25 years, Jen has served in the 27J School District, first as a teacher, then as an instructional coach, and for the past 10 years as a district Instructional Specialist. In this role, she leads professional development, coaches educators and administrators, and leads teams in building systems for improved intervention support and student outcomes. Her approach is grounded in developing shared goals, working collaboratively, building action steps, and continuously improving through data and reflection.
Jen shares a deep belief in service and connection through her volunteer and past work experience. She has supported those affected by the Marshall Fire, working at the donation center, providing resources and care during the crisis. She has contributed to the Boulder International Film Festival and the Colorado Rockies in guest relations roles. Her early work experiences at Disney World and Sea World developed her skills in listening, understanding perspectives, and resolving issues.
Jen is passionate about connecting with people, understanding needs, and working together for solutions. She brings a strong sense of integrity, an “all-in” mindset, and a belief in collective effort. Serving on the UpDoNA board would allow her to combine her love for city living with her experience in leadership and community building to help enhance the neighborhood we live, work and play in.
When she’s not across the street at the symphony, theater, or opera, Jen can be found stand-up paddleboarding, playing golf, camping and snowshoeing. She looks forward to making connections with you all towards a better Denver community.
