UpDoNA’s neighborhood is bounded by Lawrence Street, 20th Street to 20th Avenue, 20th Avenue back to Broadway, Broadway, Colfax and Speer.  This is illustrated in the map shown below.

  • Vision: Upper Downtown will be one of the most sought-after neighborhoods for residents, businesses, and tourists.
  • Mission: To be a partner and advocate for the betterment of the Upper Downtown community and all those who live, work and play here!

UpDoNA works with neighbors, businesses and the city to identify problems and propose solutions. For example, UpDoNA is working with the city to identify root causes for the flaunting of laws that we are seeing today.  We want to eliminate the trash, graffiti, vandalism, the cleanliness of our streets and sidewalks, illegal encampments on public property, assaults and so many other things that we see in everyday life.  We organize email-writing campaigns when necessary urging change, and we use the voting power of our members to elect representatives who are willing to make the hard decisions that need to be made in order to effect real change.

Not all homeless people commit crimes and not all criminals are homeless.  UpDoNA recognizes this fact and has a real desire to help the unhoused.  Our “UpDoNA Cares” committee partners with homeless organization to help further their work.

Upper Downtown Neighborhood Association expenditures

The Upper Downtown Neighborhood Association is dedicated to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and connected community in the heart of Denver. We believe in the power of civic engagement, collaborative problem-solving, and thoughtful stewardship of our shared spaces. Our mission is to elevate the quality of life for residents, businesses, and visitors through advocacy, education, and meaningful dialogue.

Throughout the year, we organize and support a wide range of initiatives that support this mission:

Annual Meeting
A cornerstone of our civic calendar, the Annual Meeting brings neighbors together to review progress, discuss priorities, and hear from City and State leadership.

Operating Expenses
Our budget supports essential programming, outreach such as our website, and administrative functions that keep our organization running smoothly. We work diligently to keep our expenses as low as possible. Board members vote on all expenditures.

The Delores Project and Urban Peak
As funds permit, we proudly sponsor meals for these vital organizations serving unhoused women and youth, reinforcing our commitment to compassion and community care.  STEP Denver handles its own lunches, but UpDoNA helps out with projects at their facility.

Social Events
From seasonal gatherings to informal mixers, we create opportunities for neighbors to connect, celebrate, and build lasting relationships.

Town Halls and Candidate Debates
We host public forums and debates to ensure residents are informed and empowered to participate in local decision-making.

Membership Drives
We actively welcome new members and encourage broad participation to reflect the full diversity of Upper Downtown.

Donations to Skyline Park Police Kiosk
We regularly contribute water and snacks to support officers at Skyline Park, promoting public safety and goodwill.
