Safety Committee – Request for Help Monitoring New Street Level Support Teams

Two organizations are now providing regular patrols and assistance for mental‑health, addiction, and drug‑related crises in downtown Denver.

Downtown Denver Partnership (DDP) has replaced its contract security force with permanent, full‑time staff. These team members are focused on street‑level safety, engagement, and support.

Urban Alchemy, which we previously covered in an UpDoNA newsletter, is now managing the Aspen Recovery Center and has expanded its role downtown. Their teams are assisting individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, and mental‑health challenges.

You can identify the teams by their shirts:

  • DDP staff: bright yellow shirts
  • Urban Alchemy staff: black shirts

How You Can Help

UpDoNA is working to understand how visible and active these teams are in Upper Downtown. If you see either group while you’re out and about, please take a moment to let me know:

  • Where you saw them and what time
  • How many staff members were present
  • Whether they were actively assisting someone or simply patrolling

We will compile this information and share it with the Denver Police Department and with Safety Director Gardner’s office to help strengthen coordination and accountability.

You can text me at 719‑659‑2349 or gilvon2001@gmail.com.

Thank you for helping us keep Upper Downtown safe, supported, and informed.
