Lots Happening in the Good Neighbor Committee – October 2024

The Good Neighbor Committee is pleased to have witnessed several recent positive developments in our Upper Downtown Neighborhood Association area.

JKD Inc. has opened a Vape, Beer and Wine shop at 1605 California, where the T-Mobile office used to be. As the name implies, they sell smoking products along with beer and wine to go. The new owners are a very amiable retired couple and have already become a Business Member and executed a Good Neighbor Agreement. Please consider giving them your business next time you need a beer, a bottle of wine or a smoke.

Reflections is opening in the 99 Bottles space on 15th Street. 99 Bottles succeeded the old Shag bar two years ago, but never quite became operational. The new Reflections proprietor, a Spire resident, has overseen a major facelift and should be open for business by early November. This will be a neighborhood bar and will occasionally feature special events, including Monday Night Football. Discussions are underway as to a GNA and a Business Membership, as well as hosting a future UpDoNa event. The future of the old Leela space, which had planned to open as 4 Play Whiskey and Tequila, is unclear.

In September this year, Third Level LLC applied for a Dance Caberat license in the Pavilions shopping mall. The new entity, doing business as XSO Nightclub, will move into the old Lime (now at 16th and Champa) space in front of the theater on the third floor. Third Level has signed a Good Neighbor Agreement and will consider a Business Membership after their planned opening, in time for New Year’s Eve.

Bombshells, a military themed restaurant and bar, has signed a Good Neighbor Agreement for its establishment at 1400 Arapahoe, and have since received their liquor license. Construction delays have pushed back their opening but they plan to be operational by mid-November.

The liquor license attached to Cheba Hut on Champa Street is being transferred to a new entity. At the time of this writing, it is unclear whether this is a new owner of the franchise or a new restaurant/bar.

And finally, Leven Deli, an UpDoNa Business Member, will open an outdoor patio and dining area at their business along California Street.
