As I write this, it has been a very wet May and June, and more liquid is expected. The Nuggets parade just ended and it was a lot of fun seeing the team, their staff and many of their fans peacefully (except for the loud cheering) enjoying a nice morning outside.
Hard to believe it will be July 4th in only 2½ weeks. But the fact is, time continues to march on.
There are plenty of things to do in the downtown and surrounding areas, even if you prefer not to drive. Many of the Fireworks displays downtown will NOT be on the 4th. Following is a partial listing of where and when you can see fireworks within walking distance of UpDoNA, as well as a bit about the City activities on Independence Eve (July 3).
The Rockies fireworks games will be Jun 30 and July 1st this year. If you have tickets you probably already know this, but even if you do not, simply get close to the stadium and you should have a great view.
The Denver City Fireworks show will be July 3 (Independence Eve). A great date since it is not a work night! It will again take place in Denver’s Civic Center Park. Gate open for the FREE festivities at 5:00, and the music gets going at 5:30PM with the Mañanas and The Reminders. At 8:15 the Colorado Symphony Orchestra will take the stage for a “Star-Spangled” concert. Of course, following that are the fireworks. If you plan to visit this event please read the regulations of what can and cannot be brought in at this link: Denver Celebrations, Independence Eve
There a many more shows outside of walking distance of the UpDoNA footprint and if you have a window looking out almost any direction you should be able to see fireworks at least on the 3rd and 4th. Weather permitting, perhaps just visit a nearby park with a blanket to sit on and watch the sky.
The shows are all planned to start between 9:15 and 9:30.
Hope you find something fun to do during the long holiday weekend. Please watch the traffic as there will be many people visiting the area. Hope to see you out there!
