The company’s clients receive support from its inhouse team of professionals including legal, financial analysis, marketing and construction consulting experts. Shames Makovsky has been an important contributor to commercial real estate ventures in UpDoNa’s downtown Denver neighborhood, and we appreciate their interest in UpDoNa.
Shames Makovsky focuses on responsible growth and commercial real estate development. Its selective investments and developments in downtown Denver include the renovation of the historic Sage Building at the intersection of 16th Street and Welton, for which it received a Downtown Denver Award from the Downtown Denver Partnership in 2008 due to the building’s significance to the area. Shames Makovsky also developed the Marriott Residence Inn at the corner of 18th Street and Champa. The company won the Denver Metro Commercial Association of Realtors “Retail Deal of the Year” award in 2022 for transactions involving a city block at 26th and Larimer in the Five Points neighborhood. In these transactions, Volunteers of America Colorado (VOA), which serves 1 million meals annually to over 60,000 Coloradans in need, retained ownership of its Five Point headquarters and moved its kitchen, warehouse and other operations to new space on E 52nd Street.
Shames Makovsky currently manages approximately 2 million square feet of commercial real estate throughout the Denver metro area for clients including Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Denver Public Schools, City & County of Denver, US Postal Service and First National Denver/Sunflower Bank. The Company provides the full range of brokerage services, including such specialties as advisory and planning, leasing, tenant representation, valuation and acquisitions and dispositions. Shames Makovsky also serves as primary lender to selected projects.
